HISTORY

Picture
I started this project with the base and top design allowing battery storage below and ciruit board above this will allow easy access to make changes as needed, a single front wheel to make it faster and more nimble and the twin motor tamiya gearbox as the main drive.

Sensing

I dicided on using modulated IR for better range and less chance of outside interference.
The sensors i orded online from Robot Gear Sharp IR Distance senors, these work very well and come as a complete unit.
These range from (4cm to 30cm) 3 lead plug required and works off analog settings.

Programming

The original program i used was to to drive straight and turn depending on walls , this worked but lacked control when turning 180 deg
To control  this and keep in a straight line proved to very hair pulling but after trial and error with the car on the practice maze it worked.
If i had to choose between digital or analog control next time i would go with digital as analog fine tuning is limited.
